2026.10.22 → [FLEXIBLE SIM - SIMULATION MODELS AS LIVE BLOCK DIAGRAMS](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-sim-released/)

![Flexible Sim plugin logo](/images/flexible-sim.svg)

If you’ve followed the [Flexible Julia](/posts/flexible-julia-plugin-released/) posts, this one is a close neighbor: [Flexible Sim](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/34429-flexible-sim).

Building and checking a simulation model is hard without proper IDE support. Much of the work still happens outside the IDE, in a separate tool - especially when your codebase mixes Dyad, Julia, Modelica and Python.

2026.10.19 → [EVERY SAP SYSTEM HAS AN UNDOCUMENTED REST API](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/sap-adt-undocumented-rest-api/)

The first time I pointed a browser at /sap/bc/adt on a client system, it came back 404, and the 404 looked exactly like the URL did not exist. It was not the URL. It was a service node nobody had switched on. That single discovery is most of what this post is about, because it explains something bigger than one troubleshooting step: every SAP system running the ABAP Development Tools integration is quietly running a REST API, and there is no proper manual for it.

2026.10.15 → [FLEXIBLE DELPHI - DELPHI AND FREE PASCAL IN JETBRAINS](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-delphi-released/)

![Flexible Delphi plugin logo](/images/flexible-delphi.svg)

Okay, so this one is a bit of a nostalgia trip.

Many of us learned to program with Delphi. Its form designer made it so easy: build a window, double-click a button, write the code behind it. And a lot of Delphi and Free Pascal code still runs today - in companies, in schools, and in old projects on our own disks. It deserves a good editor.

The problem is working with it outside the Delphi IDE: binary forms, ANSI source files, conditional compilation, Free Pascal dialects… So: [Flexible Delphi](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/search?search=flexible%20delphi).

2026.10.12 → [A LANGUAGE SERVER THAT READS THE COMPILER'S MIND](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/jetls-compiler-powered-language-server/)

Most language servers read your file and make an educated guess about what the compiler would say. JETLS.jl skips the guessing and asks the compiler directly. That distinction sounds small until you have watched a language server get something wrong that the real compiler would never get wrong, because the language server never ran your code through inference in the first place. It parsed the syntax tree, matched some patterns, and did its best.

2026.10.08 → [FLEXIBLE COBOL - A REAL COBOL IDE IN JETBRAINS](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-cobol-released/)

![Flexible COBOL plugin logo](/images/flexible-cobol.svg)

So this is an exciting one: [Flexible COBOL](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/34037-flexible-cobol).

COBOL never went away. It just got quiet. A lot of it still runs, and developing or modernizing it without proper IDE support is hard - especially across mixed IBM Enterprise COBOL and GnuCOBOL codebases with deep copybook trees.

2026.10.05 → [THE JVM TAUGHT US TIERED COMPILATION](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/tiered-compilation-jvm-vs-julia/)

I spent fifteen years tuning JVMs for banks, retailers and insurers, and it took building a Julia plugin to notice how much of that tuning HotSpot does for you before you ever touch a flag. The problem HotSpot solves is the one every JIT has: interpreted code starts instantly and runs slow, compiled native code starts slow and runs fast. You cannot have both from the first line. HotSpot’s answer, tiered compilation, has been the default since Java 7, and it works by never picking just one option.

2026.09.28 → [WHAT A DEBUGGER IS ACTUALLY TALKING TO](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/debug-adapter-protocol-client-explainer/)

The debugger locked up the first time I inspected a DataFrame mid-session, and it took me a while to believe that the box-drawing characters in a pretty-printed table were the reason. │ ─ ⋯ …, the kind of Unicode a DataFrame uses to draw its own borders, sent over the wire as part of a debug response. The connection did not crash. It just quietly went out of sync and stopped answering, which is worse, because nothing tells you why.

2026.09.21 → [WHY A LANGUAGE PLUGIN NEEDS A GRAMMAR, NOT A REGEX](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/bnf-grammar-jflex-language-plugin/)

A regex can highlight a language for about as long as nobody nests anything. The moment a string contains a comment marker, or a comment contains something that looks like a string, or a block comment nests inside another block comment the way Julia’s #= ... =# is allowed to, the pattern either lights up the wrong span or gives up entirely. Everyone’s first instinct for a language plugin is a regex, because a regex is the honest, cheap thing to reach for, and it is also the thing that guarantees you will rewrite the highlighter twice.

2026.09.14 → [JETBRAINS PUT INTELLIJ'S JAVA BRAIN IN VS CODE](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/intellij-java-kotlin-lsp-vscode/)

JetBrains sells IDEs. In August 2026 it also started giving away, in preview, the exact Java and Kotlin intelligence that its IDEs have always used to justify the licence. I build JetBrains plugins for a living, so I read that announcement more carefully than most people will. What actually went out “IntelliJ IDEA Goes LSP” is a preview extension that brings IntelliJ’s Java and Kotlin code intelligence into VS Code and its forks, Cursor and Antigravity included, over the Language Server Protocol.

2026.09.07 → [JAVA 17 RUNS OUT OF PREMIER SUPPORT THIS MONTH](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/java-lts-cadence-enterprise-consulting/)

Java 17’s Premier Support runs out on 30 September 2026, according to endoflife.date, and in fifteen years of walking into large Java codebases I have never once seen a date like that be the actual reason a company moved. I spent that time as an enterprise Java consultant, in places like a bank’s core ledger, an airline’s distribution system, a public administration’s case management platform. Every one of them had a support calendar pinned to a wall or a wiki page somewhere.

2026.08.14 → [YARN SQUIRREL - BECAUSE EVERY PATTERN DESERVES A HOME](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/yarn-squirrel-app/)

I don’t knit. I don’t crochet. I have never once counted a row in my life. So when Jennifer Brehm shows me the latest thing she added to Yarn Squirrel, I mostly nod along and go “okay but is that hard to build,” and she tells me, and then I nod some more. But even I can see what she solved this time, and it’s a real problem. If you knit or crochet, your patterns live everywhere.

2026.08.13 → [FLEXIBLE FOR OPENSCAD - THE DESIGNER UPDATE](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-openscad-designer-update/)

![Visual gizmo editing in Flexible for OpenSCAD](/images/flexible-openscad-gizmos.png)

A short follow-up to [the OpenSCAD plugin post](/posts/flexible-openscad-released/) - quite a lot has landed since May.

2026.08.12 → [JOOVY - TIERED COMPILATION FOR JULIA](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/joovy-released/)

[Joovy](https://github.com/ilscipio/joovy) is out - Apache 2.0, on GitHub.

The name is Julia + Groovy. Groovy gave Java a dynamic layer without leaving the JVM. Joovy does the same for Julia.

2026.08.11 → [FLEXIBLE HASKELL - AND A BIT OF BLUESPEC](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-haskell-released/)

![Flexible Haskell](/images/flexible-haskell.svg)

A quick one: [Flexible Haskell](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/30630-flexible-haskell).

Haskell tooling in JetBrains IDEs has been in a strange place for years. There are a few plugins around, and most of them are either abandoned or stuck. So we wrote one.

2026.08.10 → [FLEXIBLE ELIXIR - PHOENIX WITHOUT THE SETUP](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-elixir-released/)

![Flexible Elixir](/images/flexible-elixir.svg)

Next up: [Flexible Elixir](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/30043-flexible-elixir).

We built this one for our own production Elixir projects, which is usually the right reason to build a thing.

2026.08.07 → [FLEXIBLE FOR FLOX - NIX ENVIRONMENTS, VISUALLY](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-flox-released/)

![Flexible for Flox](/images/flexible-flox.svg)

So this is an unofficial one: [Flexible for Flox](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/31388-flexible-for-flox).

I like Flox. It gives you the whole Nix package universe without making you learn Nix first, which is exactly the trade I wanted. What it did not have was a proper IDE integration. So… you know how this goes by now.

2026.08.06 → [FLEXIBLE FOR ARDUINO - ESP32 IN JETBRAINS](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-arduino-released/)

![Flexible for Arduino](/images/flexible-arduino.svg)

Okay, so - [Flexible for Arduino](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/31027-flexible-for-arduino).

I have a drawer full of ESP32 boards. You know how it goes. And the thing that always got me was the serial monitor: the board resets, spits out a Guru Meditation panic, resets again, and you sit there squinting at a wall of scrolling output trying to work out what died.

2026.08.05 → [FLEXIBLE ABAP - SAP DEVELOPMENT IN JETBRAINS](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-abap-released/)

![Flexible ABAP](/images/flexible-abap.svg)

This one took a while: [Flexible ABAP](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/30488-flexible-abap).

ABAP is one of those languages where you are basically stuck with whatever tooling SAP hands you. If you’ve spent time in Eclipse with ADT, you know exactly what I mean.

2026.08.04 → [AIVORY GENIE - YOUR OWN AGENT, IN JETBRAINS](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/aivory-genie-released/)

![AIVory Genie](/images/aivory-genie.svg)

Alright, another one: [AIVory Genie](https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/32420-aivory-genie) is out.

Everyone and their dog is shipping an AI agent plugin right now (woof). So why another one? Because I kept hitting the same two annoyances and got tired of it.

2026.08.03 → [SLAIDE - A PRESENTATION FORMAT BUILT FOR AI](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/slaide-open-source/)

![The Slaide viewer rendering a deck](/images/slaide-viewer.jpg)

So this is an exciting one: we open sourced [Slaide](https://github.com/aivorynet/slaide).

Here’s the problem it solves. Ask an AI for a deck and you get a `.pptx` back - which is a zip full of bulky XML that models get wrong constantly. Shapes overlap, text overflows, and you spend longer fixing it than you would have spent just making the thing yourself.

2026.06.06 → [AIVORY SMART INFERENCE - SAME AI, CHEAPER BILL](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/aivory-smart-inference/)

![AIVory](/images/aivory_black.svg)

Okay, so… we built another product for AIVory: [Smart Inference](https://aivory.net/smart-inference).

And the reason is simple: GPU inference is expensive, but most of the time you’re overpaying for it. There are $765 billion worth of GPUs out there and roughly half sit idle at any given time. That’s why providers offer them at a discount - if you can find their offers and keep track of the actual prices across 60+ providers. That takes time. So we built a service around it.

2026.06.02 → [AI FOUNDERS CONNECT FRANKFURT - PITCHING AT GOOGLE](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/ai-founders-connect-frankfurt/)

![Pitching AIVory at AI Founders Connect Frankfurt](/images/ai-founders-connect-pitch.jpg)

So this was a fun one: I applied for a spot at AI Founders Connect Frankfurt and got selected as one of five founders. It was a guided pitch competition at Google, organized by Daniel Pietschmann and Daniel Gerald Orbegoso Barrantes - who had already left me deeply impressed at their last event.

2026.05.30 → [FLEXIBLE FOR OPENSCAD](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-openscad-released/)

![Flexible for OpenSCAD Demo](/images/flexible-openscad-demo.gif)

I got a 3D printer and started to dabble with modelling. I use AI agents for a lot of it, having them render the outcome so that they can see what they did. But I figured that often makes them go in loops. It’s tough to really describe what you want sometimes and in 3D space it’s even tougher.

I used to work with 3ds Max a bit - about 20 years ago - and I know that 3D modelling tools usually give you options to modify elements visually. OpenSCAD doesn’t. So I decided to build a tool myself.

2026.03.06 → [MY TALK AT GRÜNDUNGSMESSE MITTELHESSEN - NOW ON VIDEO](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/gruendungsmesse-giessen-video/)

The recording from last year’s [Gründungsmesse Mittelhessen](https://www.gruendungsmesse-mittelhessen.de/) in Giessen is finally out. Big thanks to TiG for organizing the event and making this available.

In the talk I get into something I think about a lot: the cultural gap between Germany and the US when it comes to founding companies. Why did I end up starting my company in the US? It’s not because Germany lacks talent or ideas - it’s about the environment around those ideas. Risk tolerance, access to capital, the social stigma around failure - it all adds up.

2026.01.22 → [PYUI HELPER - FINALLY](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/pyui-helper-released/)

I’ve been shifting more towards Python development over the past few years - it’s becoming the industry standard for fast web development, especially with AI tooling. And there are so many cool frameworks now. But looking up those elements is a pain. Gradio docs, Streamlit docs, NiceGUI docs, back and forth, constantly. Some are in really poor shape, too. And they all build on top of other frameworks - Tailwind, Quasar, you name it - so you’re looking those up too.

2025.12.17 → [FLEXIBLE JULIA - MY NEW JETBRAINS PLUGIN](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-julia-plugin-released/)

A quick one, but I’ve just released Flexible Julia - a Julia language plugin for JetBrains IDEs. You can get it on the JetBrains Marketplace. Works with IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, and other JetBrains products. So… yay :)

2025.12.05 → [AIVORY ARCHITECT - STOP WRESTLING WITH TERRAFORM](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/aivory-architect/)

![AIVory Architect - Visual Cloud Infrastructure IDE](/images/aivory_black.svg)

Okay, so… we built another product for AIVory: [AIVory Architect](https://app.aivory.net).

And the reason is simple: AI or not, it took me weeks to actually setup Terraform/Kubernetes, make it secure etc etc. So I looked around, noticed that there isn’t many visual editors around and decided to do that as a side project.

2025.11.19 → [WHY GERMANY'S MISSING THE AI WAVE](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/gruendungsmesse-giessen-2025/)

This Saturday at 4:30pm, I’m speaking at Gruendungsmesse Mittelhessen about why we need a society that encourages risk takers and gives them the support they deserve.

2025.11.17 → [DEFENSE TECH HACKATHON IN BERLIN](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/bundeswehr-cyber-hackathon-2025/)

[![Cyber Innovation Hub Bundeswehr](/images/cihbw.png)](https://www.cyberinnovationhub.de/en)

So this is an exciting one: I spent 48 hours at the Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub hackathon building SIMS - an AI-powered incident reporting system. Point your phone at a threat, record what you see, and AI handles the rest: transcription, threat analysis, GPS coordinates, automatic routing to responders. No more fumbling with phone calls during emergencies.

2025.11.02 → [CLOUDFLARE AI MARKDOWN WORKER](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/cloudflare-ai-markdown-worker/)

![Cloudflare Workers for AI optimization](/images/cloudflare_worker.png)

A quick personal note: we published the [Cloudflare AI Markdown Worker](https://github.com/aivorynet/cloudflare-ai-markdown-worker). It’s a simple tool that detects AI agents (Claude, GPT, Gemini, etc.) and serves them markdown instead of HTML. Regular visitors get the normal site, AI agents get clean, token-efficient content.

2025.10.26 → [AIVORY - WE'RE DOING COMPLIANCE NOW](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/aivory-relaunch/)

![AIVory compliance scanning in action](/images/aivory_website.png)

Writing this from San Francisco - back in the city with self-driving cars and people actually building stuff. Perfect timing, because I’ve got news.

Remember [AIVory](https://aivory.net)? The AI assistant we [launched in May](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7384118463323295744/)? Yeah, that didn’t work. And I am not hiding it.

2025.10.21 → [FLEXIBLE SOLIDITY - I ACCIDENTALLY BUILT A JETBRAINS PLUGIN](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/flexible-solidity-launch/)

![Flexible Solidity plugin](/images/flexible-solidity.svg)

So I accidentally built a JetBrains plugin.

You know how it goes - you’re working on your main project (AIVory in my case), hit a wall, need to clear your head. Some people go for a walk. I… do projects like this.

2025.04.23 → [AIVORY - FINALLY TACKLING INFORMATION OVERLOAD](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/2025-aivory/)

![AIVory logo - AI assistant for information management](/images/aivory_black.svg)

Alright, I’ve been keeping quiet about this for too long… I finally get to talk about [AIVory](https://aivory.net)!

What is it? AIVory is a smart assistant that I’ve been working on for the past months. The basic idea: it helps you manage information overload by keeping track of your emails, messages, and other communication channels. It’s an AI that actually helps you rather than creating more noise.

2024.08.20 → ['START/UP: SET THE NET ON FIRE' - NOW AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/startup-set-the-net-on-fire-english/)

Hey everyone! I’ve got some exciting news to share. My book, “Start/Up: Set the net on fire,” is now finally available in English. \\o/ This novel has been a labor of love, deeply rooted in my own experiences in the German start-up scene of the early 2000s. It follows Mark Cain, an elite student who dives headfirst into the bizarre and often ruthless start-up world, where loneliness and cutthroat competition are the norms.

2024.03.13 → [FINDING MYSELF IN AI](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/aivory-jarvex/)

Today, I’ve come to a realization. My two-decade tenure as a developer has been fulfilling, but I now realize: thanks to AI, it is over. Let me explain: AI has always fascinated me. I love Jurassic Park, afterall, of course I would. But for some reason, when machine learning started getting some traction in 2018, my initial reaction was indifference. Up to this point I had only worked with deeplearning4j and tried my luck with a project titled “minime” using a self-compiling piece of java code and a rules engine.

2023.09.27 → [THE LOST WEBSITE: REBUILDING AND NEW BEGINNINGS](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/2023-update/)

Hey there! It’s been a while and boy, have things been busy. Life has a knack for throwing curveballs, and sometimes, things can fall through the cracks. This website is one of them. It mysteriously disappeared during a server migration back in 2016. Simply put, I had not really invested much time in maintaining it for years prior and lo and behold, it simply got forgotten when we did one of the many migrations at my company ilscipio

2014.10.22 → [A TINY REFERENCE IN JOYSTIQ.COM](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/joystiq/)

I recently stumbled upon a great article byJoystiq.com which centers around the great Trespasser remake that s13n1 has been making over at TresCom.org. I am an enormous fan of Jurassic Park, as you may already have guessed, and as such I was quite touched. I was asked to give a few statements for the author and of course I was happy to oblige - it seriously feels just great to see the community coming up with these awesome additions all the time.

2014.02.26 → [CATO - RELEASED](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/cato-released/)

<img src="/images/img\_20140218\_121746.jpg" alt="CATO - HBM" width="2448" height="2448" loading="lazy" decoding="async" style="float: right; max-width: 250px; margin: 0 0 20px 20px;"> Last week we launched CATO, a full ERP solution. Needless to say, the product took alot of effort on our end and we are slowly beginning to advertise it. On the forefront, we just launched a small ad-campaign in the german Harvard business manager: The ad features both Michael and I in the background - the actual model, was shot on a separate day.

2013.12.21 → [INTERVIEW FOR THE INGEN HISTORIAN](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/interview-ingen-historian/)

Recently, I was asked to come aboard the Jurassic Park podcast “Ramblings of A Ingen Historian” to talk about the history of TresCom. Since i am a huge Jurassic Park enthuasiast and would do anything for the community, I absolutely loved the experience. We covered quite alot of topics, ranging from the beginnings of the community to the recent “feud” there was with another jurassic park website. If you want to listen to the podcast, follow this link.

2013.10.09 → [OFBIZ ARTICLE IN JAVA MAGAZIN](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/ofbiz-article/)

<img src="/images/cover\_jm11\_13\_0.jpg" alt="Java Magazin" width="190" height="269" loading="lazy" decoding="async" style="float: right; max-width: 250px; margin: 0 0 20px 20px;"> A few months ago I was given the opportunity to write for the german “Java Magazin”. They asked for an article on the popular Apache OFBiz - the first level ERP system by the Apache Software Foundation I am such a big fan of. Being an avid reader myself I was smitten. Afterall, even though we forked Scipio ERP from it in 2014, we did so out of love for the initial project!

2013.02.15 → [DROP-SHADOW GENERATOR](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/drop-shadow-generator/)

Doing shadows on boxes is quite a hassle within CSS. Though modern browsers support this in one form or antoher, it is tedious to look up the actual style property the few times you actually use them. If you want to support the lesser IE versions, it quickly spawns into a real nightmare. Well, I looked into this a while back and created a fun little generator to play around with.

2013.02.05 → [DEUTSCHE-STARTUPS GUEST ARTICLE](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/deutsche-startups-gast/)

5 Gründe gegen Alles-Könner It took me some time to get back onto writing guest articles. The main reason was that despite how much I enjoy doing this, it tends to be one of those things that get out of focus for a while, then instantly pop up and bite you in the ass again. So here’s my latest addition: Unfortunately, it happens to be a german article on the topic of why people tend to overlook extenral help within their startups or, even worse, have the tendency to evaluate it differently.

2012.11.20 → [BROWSEO MOBILE - THE SEO BROWSER FOR ANDROID](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/browseo-mobile/)

Being focused on several pitches and ilscipio related tasks, I didn’t really get around doing much fun for a little while… if it wasn’t for a tiny app by the name of Browseo Mobile. Browseo, as you may know, has been an incredible success so far. As a tool for SEO-professionals, we launched the app almost a year ago to a wider audience. Before, we had developed the tool for internal means and never had a market in mind.

2012.04.01 → [ILSCIPIO NOMINATED FOR BEST OF ECOMMERCE 2012](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/initiative-mittelstand/)

This came as a surprise to all of us, but Ilscipio was nominated by Initiative Mittelstand as one of the best in the field of “eCommerce”. This is of course a huge thing for all of us and we are very grateful for all who made it possible. You can read the full article in the Ilscipio Blog.

2012.03.17 → [BROWSEO - YOUR FRIENDLY SEO BROWSER](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/browseo/)

<img src="/images/your\_new\_seo\_browser\_\_browseo-medium.png" alt="Browseo - simplified seo" width="320" height="239" loading="lazy" decoding="async" style="float: right; max-width: 250px; margin: 0 0 20px 20px;"> With ilscipio we have been quite busy the past couple of months and we have alot in the pipeline which we are now beginning to release to the general public. To start off Jonathan, our SEO expert extraordinaire, released Browseo.net this week - a neat little tool which lets you see a website through the perspective of a search engine crawler.

2011.09.11 → [TRESCOM, TRESPASSER AND I](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/trescom-trespasser-and-i/)

People who know me know my boundless love to Jurassic Park: Trespasser - a piece of computer gaming history. Today I consider my involvement in the Trespasser Community (a fan community), one of the core reasons to get into computer development, management and alike. This love dates back 11 years and I still continue to be amazed by that little marvel. Reason enough for me to try to take a look back at its beginning and how I got involved with the game (being a jurassic park nut, isn’t part of that story though ;)).

2011.06.25 → [ILSCIPIO.COM GETS AN OVERHAUL!](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/ilscipio-gets-overhaul/)

As always it has been quite a while. Ilscipio is growing like crazy so I am quite under alot of pressure these days. But with our growth come more playgrounds for me to play around with. One of which is our corporate website www.ilscipio.com, which we relaunched yesterday. There’s of course still stuff we haven’t added yet (as always this is a work in progress), but already I must thank Jenni & Dejan for the terrific effort they put into this!

2011.02.24 → [EBIKES FOR THE WIN: VELOCOMFORT.COM](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/e-bokes-for-the-win/)

Spring is just around the corner! True, none of us can feel it yet - the weather, the foliage on the ground & my mood, all tell you otherwise. But personally, I don’t think we have to be extraordinarly positive to get ourselves looking forward to it… And there is a reason to it: Velo Comfort! Not to spoil anything, but we just recently launched the new website for its distributor “Thun”.

2010.12.11 → [TOWNERS - A TINY SIM CITY CLONE](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/towners-a-tiny-sim-city-clone/)

It’s time for another look into the past. This time around, I’d like you to have a look at Towners! Yes, that’s right - it’s time for another mobile application. I hope you enjoy the read and video.

2010.12.07 → [OUTLET CENTER SOLTAU](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/outlet-center-soltau/)

Just a quick update to all of you: With Ilscipio we recently launched outletcentersoltau.de. It is the oficial website to the yet-to-be-built factory outlet center near Hannover, Germany. Though a simple website, by design, I especially like how balanced design & content came to be. Certainly worth a look and once the outlet center is built: Pay it a visit if you can.

2010.09.15 → [GERMAN STARTUPS: STILL OVERLOOKED?](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/slowly-upgrading/)

Today, Netzwertig.de, released a second article on why german startups may not receive the attention they’d need. The article losely references my own thoughts on t3n.de a few weeks back, but goes further. Interestingly, Martin Weigert points out, that most german startups lack decent PR. He is overwhelmed that, though cheap in production (he says 15min is all that’s needed for a great personalised mail), most german startups miss out on this opportunity - often he receives lengthy, unpersonal and uninspiring emails… needless to say that that is something he wouldn’t publish.

2010.09.13 → [SLOWLY UPGRADING](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/german-startups-overlooked/)

What can I say. Despite the fact, that I was really trying to keep this website light-weight (take a look at that theme again: simplicity is the key here), I am slowly beginning to add some functions for convenience reasons. First of all, all updates have a permanent link attached, so that you can send specific updates to your friends. For the future, I am considering installing a small rss feed, who knows, it is simple…

2010.09.08 → [A RADIO-SPOT IN THE MAKING](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/radio-spot-in-the-making/)

Well, we just recently launched a marketing campaign for my pet-project bazaaria. Part of which was was a tiny Radio spot we produced on our own. The original plan was for me to record myself a gazillion times and hope anything of use would come out of it… Needless to say, the plan didn’t fully work out. BUT, and heres the good part, we still managed to produce a making-of video (with all of us speaking GERMAN).

2010.08.21 → [A TINY UPDATE PERHAPS?!](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/a-tiny-update-perhaps/)

Well, I just restructured the backend a little, since it had taken me too much time to update this page in the past. Now that I got my tools ready, I am sure that I can update alot more frequently (Also, all my updates are going to be archived as you may see on the left) :) As a start, alot has happened since the last time I wrote. First I wrote a few german guest-articles (I think there was more, but I am reaaally bad at keeping track - sorry!

2010.08.19 → [TRESCOM REVIVAL](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/trescom-revival/)

Well, after years of great support, IGN/Gamespy decided to close its doors on all hosted sites. Unsurprisingly this also affected my beloved www.trescom.org, which is why we began packing our things together and moving to a new host. Remdul and I used this occasion as a great excuse to finally do some maintenance on the site and forum and relink all hosted sites. So if you’ve never visited Trescom.org and/or are interested in the Jurassic Park fandom, you should definately pay a visit to that page.

2010.08.19 → [STILL ADDING LINKS...](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/still-adding-links/)

Well, just a quick and minor update. I added the blueend-guys to my personal links page and removed some minor typos… Cheers, Paul

2010.08.19 → [PROJECTS OF THE PAST](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/projects-of-the-past/)

I figured that I may want to add some reviews of previous and current projects of mine, so I began writing a few articles that I want to release every few weeks (whenever I feel like it) from now on… So the start is a tiny little marvel I did right after highschool: Chopper, a J2ME game for mobile devices… Enjoy :)

2010.08.19 → [CONTACT PAGE ADDED](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/contact-page-added/)

The Contact page is now fully functional ;). So please yourself and write me a message. I will do my very best and answer it…

2010.08.19 → [ADDED PERSONAL LINKS :)](https://www.paul-piper.de/posts/added-personal-links/)

Well, I just added my incomplete list of personal links to the website and am now working on a projects – section :)
